Remember a couple of years back, when a small corner of Reddit decided to ban half its user base in homage to Thanos?
Well, those users have finally been let out of their digital purgatory.
It all started in summer 2018 on the r/thanosdidnothingwrong sub (a space largely devoted to enthusiastic Thanos memes), when one of the moderators announced that a Reddit admin had given them permission to ban half the sub's users in homage to the events that take place at the conclusion of Avengers: Infinity War.
The ban took place on July 10, and half the sub's members were duly booted. But now – over two-and-a-half years later – they've finally been unsnapped again.
"It's been a few years since the 'unsnap' happened in the Marvel movie universe and we thought it would be fair if the subreddit reflected that," a r/thanosdidnothingwrong moderator told Mashable. "It took some doing as it had to be automated, but we figured out how to make it work."

"We looked for help from some bot makers and from the admins too, but eventually we just had to do it ourselves," the mod said, adding that over 50,000 users have so far been unbanned and there are many more to go.
Still, everyone involved in the event will always have their little badges – which read "Saved by Thanos" and "I don't feel so good," depending on their 2018 fate – to remember it by.
