Tesla's next Gigafactory will be built in the vicinity of Berlin.
This is according to CEO Elon Musk, who tweeted the news late on Tuesday.

"Will build batteries, powertrains & vehicles, starting with Model Y," he added.
Musk originally announced the news a few hours earlier, during an awards ceremony in Germany, TechCrunch reported Tuesday, but said he couldn't share all the details yet, except that the factory will be built in the Berlin area, near the new airport. Musk is likely referring to the Berlin Brandenburg Airport, which is currently under construction and is slated for a 2020 opening.
Musk praised Germain engineering as "outstanding," which according to him is part of the reason why the company is building its next Gigafactory in Germany.
He also announced the company would open an engineering and design center in Berlin.
Gigafactory Europe, as Musk called the new factory, would be the company's fourth. The first Gigafactory started operations in Nevada in 2016, followed by Gigafactory 2 in Buffalo, New York, and Gigafactory 3 in Shanghai, China, which hasn't been fully completed yet.
