Folks, we are halfway through 2019 and the memes have been strong.

Although some of this year's memes are pretty wholesome, most of them are weird. The love for absurd, surreal content is real. From family-centered TikToks to boy band deep cuts, the internet has had a ball during the last six months.

Here are 14 of this year's most memorable (meme-orable, if you will) memes.

1. TikTok's four generations

Let's start off with some heartwarming content. The year kicked off with the "four generations" meme on TikTok, in which families showed off their parents, grandparents, and even great grandparents. Cute!

2. Marie Kondo, the bloodthirsty minimalist demon

Tidying Up With Marie Kondoinspired plenty of people to get their shit together and stop piling clothing onto that one designated clothes holding chair in their bedroom, but some people took another route. Reorganizing your closet and decluttering your workspace is somuch easier when Marie Kondo is holding you hostage with her demonic minimalist powers!

3. Choking Sasuke

Poor Sasuke. It's just too easy to bully the Narutocharacter with this meme. The two side-by-side pictures probably make up a healthier way to take our your anger — do it in meme form instead of in person.

4. Oh my god they have AirPods in

AirPods have become synonymous with unnecessary flexes, and this meme makes fun of it. If you're going to spend $160 on some easily lost earphones, you're going to have to put up with being memed. Sorry!

5. Act my age

One Direction may have broken up years ago, but their cultural impact is still being felt. And by cultural impact, I mean meme quality. The song "Act My Age" features a sea shanty-like riff, which matched a video of a dancing family too perfectly.

6. I'm baby

It seems like the internet has collectively given up on growing up, but you don't need to deal with responsibilities if you're baby! When the overwhelming stress of existence becomes too much, take solace in this meme.

7. Ah shit, here we go again

There are some things that are just too difficult to give up — you know that no matter what you do, you'll be back. That's the case with this meme, which relentlessly calls you out for the habits that are impossible to break.

8. What if we kissed?

Is this flirting? The "what if we kissed" meme had everyone fantasizing about getting it on in the most unexpected places. The more specific, the hotter.

9. The redacted Mueller report

The good people of the United States (and also of Twitter dot com) waited in anticipation for months for Special Counsel Robert Mueller's report on foreign interference in the 2016 presidential election. When Attorney General William Barr finally released it to the public, everyone was deeply disappointed that a majority of the report was redacted. But at least it made for good memes.

10. And I oop

Drag queen and RuPaul's Drag Racecontestant Jasmine Masters became a meme when a clip from a 2015 vlog went viral. Her mid-rant yelp ("I just hit my balls," she explains in the video) is a symbol for a surprise realization.

11. Game of Thrones finale memes

Look, nobody was happy about the way Game of Thronesended — especially not the subreddit r/freefolk. The community's shitposting power was in full force after the disappointing finale aired, and memes about the last two seasons' plot holes and lack of character development dominated Reddit for weeks.

12. Me explaining to my mom

You know when you beg your mom for something and she looks at you as if you're her greatest disappointment? There's a meme for that! Try sending this to her the next time you ask for oat milk.

13. SpongeBob and his purse

SpongeBob Squarepantsmemes are everlasting, and this one of the lovable sponge decked out in lipstick and a purse is no exception.

14. What it do, babyyy?

You know the feeling when you post a particularly hot mirror selfie and your gross ex slides into your DMs? This meme is a perfect depiction of that. The clip of NBA star Kawhi Leonard has become the call out for toxic dating tactics and questionable coping mechanisms.
